How long have you been holding the whole world on your shoulders? Does talking about yourself and your experiences feel like a big ‘ol pandora’s box that you’re not sure you want to open? Can’t shake the feeling that self-care is somehow selfish, silly, or unnecessary? You are not alone in this. In my life and work, I’ve come to learn that these are common experiences for women and mothers. Dedicating our lives to nurturing and supporting others – what an awesome, beautiful strength! But when is it your turn to take that time, energy, nurturing and turn it inwards? You deserve time and space that is dedicated entirely to you.
My approach is influenced by existential, feminist, and ACT theories of counseling. I have experience working with a wide range of clients/issues, and I’m particularly passionate about working with women from ages 40-65. Our work might look like getting back to baseline, meaning making, values exploration, or cultivating self-compassion.
First steps can be daunting. I think it’s awesome that you’re even considering starting up therapy! I’m here to go at whatever pace feels right for you. It’s about time we make some space for you, don’t you think?
