Olivia Baumann, M.Ed, LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor (She/Her)
Whether you’re new to counseling or have had many experiences with counseling in the past, I recognize that taking the first step toward change can feel daunting—and that’s okay. Whether your destination is near or far, clear or hazy, I will walk with you on this journey. My hope is to provide a space where you can show up 100% you and I can do the same. I always say to my clients, “If we’re not being real, what are we doing here?” As we get to know each other, we can collaboratively develop goals and tailor them to fit your needs. I’m not here to tell you what’s best for you, but rather, to help you find what’s best for you. I believe that being human comes with a fair amount of anxiety, stress, and pain built in, and I also believe that people have a tremendous capacity for growth. I aim to provide a warm, accepting, and authentic environment for us to grow together.
I work primarily with adults, and I specialize in working with anxiety, trauma, adult ADHD, depression, suicidal thoughts, stress, relationship and communication difficulties, and LGBTQ+ concerns. In clinical terms, I take a humanistic, client-centered approach to counseling, infusing elements from existential and attachment theories as well as narrative therapy and a variety of evidence-based techniques. In sessions, this looks like helping my clients build greater awareness and understanding of their emotions, their relationships with others, and their relationship with themselves. I assist clients in building the most authentic version of themselves and exploring what gives their life meaning, value, and purpose. You can think of me as a guide walking alongside you toward a destination of your choosing.
When I’m not working, I like to read, write poetry, take pictures, spend time in nature, and spend time with friends and family. These activities are my self-care; they help me to slow down and live in the moment as much as possible. I find photography to be especially calming as it requires me to be still and focus on my surroundings. I look forward to getting to know you and learning more about your interests, passions, and goals!
